Our Campus + City
The Pritzker School of Medicine is one of the few medical schools in this country to be located physically on the University campus. Known for its gothic architecture, the University of Chicago campus is home to nearly 14, 000 undergraduate and graduate students and is home to six professional schools. Surrounded by parks on Chicago's south side, the campus boasts a newly opened recreation center and ice skating rink, and is home to several landmark museums and theaters. A recent Chicago Tribune reader poll named the campus one of the city's “seven wonders.”
University of Chicago Medical Center & Facilities
At the Pritzker School of Medicine, our medical students have the advantage of learning from the very best faculty in the very best facilities. U.S. News & World Report recently named the University of Chicago Medical Center to its the prestigious Honor Roll of America's Best Hospitals. The medical center includes the newly opened Comer Children's Hospital, and the state of the art Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine. Pritzker School of Medicine students spend their first two years taking courses in the Biological Sciences Learning Center.
Hyde Park & Chicago
The campus is located in the Hyde Park community, just seven miles south of downtown Chicago. Hyde Park is a historic community known for its political and social activism, strong sense of community and many historic and architectural landmarks. It has been cited as one of the most racially and economically integrated urban communities in the United States. Only a twenty minute train or bus ride from downtown Chicago, the city is literally at your doorstep.
